Join us on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens, where music, nature, and love converge in an evening of enchanted sounds. Songs of the Earth features immersive soundscape installations by multimedia artist and composer Juraj Kojs, alongside guitarist Brandon Acker and tenor James Reese, in a program of intimate and devastatingly beautiful songs for lute and tenor. These airs de cour (songs of the court) were immensely popular in seventeenth-century France, telling stories of loneliness, yearning, heartbreak, and pleasure. They evoke rivers and trees, desolate landscapes, bawdy taverns, and every shade of love. Most of all, they connect us with the humanity of people living hundreds of years ago. Separated by centuries and great distances, we can find much in common with the humanity of these songs.

Curated by Frost Visiting Artist-in-Residence Craig Terry, the program explores the intersection of storytelling and genre through an innovative, cross-disciplinary lens in the state-of-the-art Thomas D.
